Reinvestment cycle
Since 2013, our work has mitigated more than 10 million tons of CO2e from entering the atmosphere.
Our positive reinvestment cycle funds our work around the globe in finding and permanently preventing the release of these super pollutant gases.

Halocarbon projects
Tradewater works globally to collect and destroy halocarbon gases to permanently prevent their release into the atmosphere.

Methane projects
Tradewater permanently plugs orphaned oil and gas wells, stopping methane gas from releasing and mitigating future emissions.

The gases collected were mixed and also included later generations of refrigerants that are not currently eligible for Tradewater’s projects. In alignment with our mission to destroy potent greenhouse gases, Tradewater collected all of the refrigerants, and shipped them to the US for permanent destruction.

Tradewater worked with CWR to consolidate the refrigerants it collected from these old refrigerators, as well as a substantial stockpile of additional CFC refrigerants, and shipped it to the United States, where it was destroyed safely.

In Honduras, a former importer of CFCs held a stockpile of CFC-12 that had been slowly leaking into the atmosphere since 2004. No path for destruction was available to the importer, so Tradewater stepped in, acquiring the remaining refrigerant and exporting it to Europe for permanent destruction.
